What does ‘Remy’ mean?

Remy Hair means each strand of hair has been carefully collected and each strand of hair is the correct way up. Close up, a strand of hair looks like ‘fish scales” with each scale laying flat, running from root to tip. If you brushed the scales the wrong way each one would stick out, if the hair strand was the wrong way up this would cause a very fuzzy look and would tangle easily when washed. Remy - Cuticle Correct hair is smooth, shiny, washes and brushes easily.

Why do we use Russian or European Hair?

Russian and European hair is fine, soft, shiny but strong. It’s thought the Russian Traditional diet of low salt and plenty of fruit and vegetables contribute to the strength of the hair. Russian and European hair also flows in the wind and is very natural looking. Some other types of hair are very durable, coarse and incredibly strong but to achieve the lighter shade it has to go through an intense lightening process. Damage to the cuticles can be irreversible, leaving over processed hair that doesn’t last very long. Some suppliers coat this hair in silicone to create a fake shine, it looks and feels amazing for a little while. Then over time after washing and using heat tools it takes the silicone coating off, exposing the damaged hair.

What does ‘Double Drawn’ mean?

This is where the shorter hairs through the extensions have been taken out twice ensuring the thickness of the hair is from root to tip. Compared to single drawn hair, you would notice towards the bottom of the hair is much thinner than at the root.

How long does the hair last?

The Hair can last 12months+ depending on aftercare. You will receive an aftercare sheet from Rachel’s Hair Transformations advising you on how to care for your new hair correctly. Colour fading may occur especially in the lighter and ash shades. Hair pieces may need maintenance prior to the lifespan of the hair ending, which can now be done in salon.
